I receive error message when I start/stop recording my screen
To resolve this problem try adjusting some Screen Capture settings first. Go to Settings -> Preferences -> Video menu of Screen Capture program and enable option Use DirectX for capturing or Use alternative capture mode (one of these options will be available in the menu). Close Preferences and try recording video again.
If the problem still arises after you enable one of these options, try updating your videocard driver.
In order to install up-to-date driver you need to first check which videocard your computer has. Right-click on My Computer icon and go to Properties. After that click on Device Manager button.
In Device Manager open Display adapters device group and check the model of your videocard. Depending on the model you can use one of the following links to download and install the latest drivers:
After installing up-to-date driver please reboot your PC and try recording video again.
The other possible cause of the problem can be the usage of multiple video cards - integrated graphics and discrete graphics. If your PC uses such configuration (for example, such configuration is common for laptops) you need to manually select preferred graphics adapter to be used by Screen Capture.
If your discrete graphics adapter is AMD (ATI) videocard please open Catalyst Control Center and go to Power -> Switchable Graphics Application Settings. Find Screen Capture in the list of programs (or add it manually) and then select integrated graphics as preferred adapter.
If your discrete graphics adapter is NVIDIA videocard please open NVIDIA Control Center and go to Manage 3D Settings -> Program settings. Find Screen Capture in the list of programs (or add it manually) and then select integrated graphics as preferred adapter.
Close Catalyst Control Center / NVIDIA Control Center, restart Screen Capture and try recording video again.
If selecting a preferred videocard does not resolve the problem, you can also try to disable discrete videocard in Device manager. For this, please right-click on Computer icon and go to Properties. After that click on Device Manager button and open Display adapters tab. Then please right-click on your NVIDIA or AMD (ATI) videocard and select Disable option.
If none of the aforementioned solutions resolve the problem, try enabling Use software OpenGL implementation in Settings -> Preferences -> General menu. You can learn more about OpenGL in this article.
